چکیده

Abstract Background The balloon angioplasty methods that are currently in use, cause to inflammation and subsequent neoatherosclerosis. Purpose aim of this study was evaluate the effect combined photodynamic therapy brachytherapy on intimal hyperplasia reduction after radiofrequency thermal carotid artery an animal model thin fibrous cap atheromatous plaque, wherein a high resolution diagnostic ultrasound is adjuncted with combination system, goal increased safety. Methods Briefly, New Zealand white rabbits were submitted vulnerable atherosclerotic plaque by primary intravascular injury followed 1.5% cholesterol-rich diet for eight weeks. Histopathology results showed formation advanced atherosclerosis foam cell-rich resulted severe stenosis (>70%) all rabbits' arteries. Then treatment group underwent B-mode ultrasound-guided catheter-based samarium-153 (153Sm, 18 Gy, β particles) photosensitizer delta-aminolevulinic acid (delta-ALA)-mediated fiber optic polarized light-emitting diodes (LEDs) violet light (λ±Δλ = 405±5 nm, E/A 120 J/cm2) therapy. Results from ultrasonography histopathology significant mean value macrophages, lymphocytes, mast cells, cells hyperplastic vascular smooth muscle density compared other groups (p<0.05). Conclusion Apoptotic cytotoxic anti-inflammatory delta-ALA immune can reduce neoatherosclerosis layer. These findings provide basis developing successful clinical application inhibition angioplasty. Enhancement of aminolevulinic acid based photodynamic therapy by adriamycin.

This paper reports on studies that evaluate the interaction between delta-aminolevulinic acid (ALA)-based photodynamic therapy (PDT) and adriamycin (ADM) in an animal model system. Two groups of mice bearing a transplantable mammary adenocarcinoma received ADM i.p. in a single dose of 5 mg (low dose) and 30 mg (high dose) per kg body weight. Sixteen or 40 h after administration of the drug, mic...

Vulnerable Atherosclerotic Plaque

Plaque Progression: Often Abrupt, Rarely Predictable Some facts are now certain. First, plaque progression and clinical outcome are not always closely related, and each is poorly predicted by clinical and angiographic variables.1–4 Second, many plaques progress episodically because of episodes of thrombosis triggered by rupture, erosion (denudation), or occasionally endothelial activation or in...

5-aminolevulinic acid-based photodynamic therapy in leukemia cell HL60.

A study to explore the optimal experimental parameters and the photosensitization of 5-aminolevulinic acid (ALA)-based photodynamic therapy (PDT) in promyelocytic leukemia cell HL60 has been conducted, in which HL60 cells and their control groups, peripheral blood mononuclear cell (PBMC), first are incubated with different concentrations of ALA in dark for different periods of time and then fol...

Effect of Silver Nanoparticles on Improving the Efficacy of 5-Aminolevulinic Acid-Induced Photodynamic Therapy

Introduction: The most important limitation of 5-aminolevulinic acid (5-ALA)-induced photodynamic therapy (PDT) is the efficacy of the cells in converting 5-ALA to protoporphyrin IX. The present study aimed to investigate the effectiveness of silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) with the photosensitivity at the surface plasmon resonance wavelength on 5-ALA-mediated PDT. Material and Methods: First of a...

Evaluation of the Primary Response of Basal Cell Carcinoma to Aminolevulinic Acid Photodynamic Therapy

Background: Basal Cell Carcinoma (BCC) is the most common type of skin cancer in human beings. Photodynamic therapy (PDT) is a novel therapeutic method which may be regarded as a non-invasive useful alternative for traditional treatments of BCC. This study was designed with the aim of evaluating the primary response of BCC to PDT.Methods: This clinical trial was perform...
